Wade Fishing the Indian River

1.Bear Point

Take A1A from Seaway Drive at the Fort Pierce Inlet south 2.7 miles
Dirt area ok for small boat or canoe launch. Wade access at road or walk or bicycle long path to pier. Numerous access points along path. Path leads back to road north after about 2 miles. (Back)

2.Middle Point

Take A1A from Seaway Drive at the Fort Pierce Inlet south 4.3 miles
Drive up this path to the gate and park to the side. Viewing platform overlooks middlepoint flat at the pumphouse. Wade to north or south for miles or walk /bicycle path. Good spot for fiddler crabs & castnet. (Back)

3. Middle Point Cove

Take A1A from Seaway Drive at the Fort Pierce Inlet south 5.4 miles
A good spot for fiddler crabs and castnet. Ditch under A1A holds sandperch for bait. Wade to north to point and fish ditch outlet as well as the test dock structures. An unmarked path is just to the north that you hoof it about a half mile to the ditch end or to exit after wading out. Dirt area ok for small jonboat or canoe launch. (Back)

7. Hermans Bay North

Take A1A from Seaway Drive at the Fort Pierce Inlet south 10.4miles
This is part of Hermans bay that has good access as well as number 7 to the south. The road is close by so you can litterally fish off the tailgate. (Back)

8. Hermans Bay

Take A1A from Seaway Drive at the Fort Pierce Inlet south 11.7-12.7miles
Jenson Beach Causeway
Take A1A from Seaway Drive at the Fort Pierce Inlet south 16.5 miles. (Back)


11. Joes Point

From Jenson Beach Causeway A1A south 3/4 mile .
muddier bottom area. (Back)

13. House of Refuge

From Jenson Beach Causeway A1A south 3.1 miles to McArthur Blvd. Left 1.3 miles south
access beach and river. (Back)

14. Bessie Cove

From Jenson Beach Causeway A1A south 3.1 miles to McArthur Blvd. Left 2.3 miles south Park at bathtub Beach to the south end. Pier to river is across street almost hidden . Wade access path changed since the storms but try the new path a few yards to the south of the pier. Note...This area has swift water and lots of cuts and deep holes. You can get on the flat on lower tides. (Back)

12.Lake Manor Park

From Jenson Beach Causeway take Indian River Drive North 1 mile.
I've not been bothered parking here but have heard that. (Back)

10. Walton Rd.

From Jenson Beach Causeway take Indian River Drive north 3.5 miles or straight east on Walton Rd from US1 to the river.
Watch the sugar sand!
Wade north or south for miles. (Back)

9. S-turns

From Walton Rd take Indian River Drive north 0.8 miles. Since river bank reconstruction, parking can be at Mark Walters real estate sign.
Again I've not been bothered parking there but that may change (Bill 7/6/06)

6. Power lines

From Walton Rd take Indian River Drive north 3.7 miles or south of Midway Rd 2.4 miles
Fish north or south for miles. (Back)

4. Midway Rd

From Walton Rd take Indian River Drive north 6.1 miles or east on midway Rd from US1 till you hit the river.
Park by the RR tracks to avoid the "clown" in the newer house. Fish north or south for miles. (Back)
